INDIANAPOLIS, April 7 (UPI) -- David Horowitz was the second conservative activist in a week to find himself at the receiving end of a pie-in-the-face attack at an Indiana university.

Horowitz had just begun a lecture at Butler University Wednesday night when an assailant hit him in the face with a pie, the Indianapolis Star reported Thursday. The assailant was not caught.

The president of the Center for the Study of Popular Culture, Horowitz often criticizes what he characterized as the leftist domination of college campuses.

"There's a wave of violence on college campuses, committed by what I'd call fascists opposing conservatives," Horowitz said of the incident. "It's one step from that to injury."

A university spokesman decried Wednesday's incident as "deplorable."

William Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, was attacked March 30 during a speech at Earlham College in Richmond, Ind.
