RAMSEY, N.J., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A New Jersey retiree who lost $1 million in a burglary is looking for his stolen and possibly still valuable 100-pound safe.

Joseph Bonaro, 79, a former printer and publisher, stockpiled a retirement nest egg of cash and bonds in the safe in his Ramsey, N.J., home.

Two 19-year-old men were arrested after spending some of the cash that was in the safe.

Police theorize the suspects kept the $100,000 in cash, then trashed the safe, possibly leaving behind cashable bonds worth $900,000, the New York Post said Friday.

The safe is probably somewhere in north Jersey, said Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney.
