MCGRAW MAKES OPRY DEBUT THIS WEEKEND

Tim McGraw, whose long-anticipated album "Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors" hits stores Tuesday, debuts at the Grand Ole Opry Saturday night.

The Opry appearance -- with Loretta Lynn and Brad Paisley -- ends a big week for McGraw, who's lined up as a guest on network TV shows and will host "Sing Me Home," his own primetime special on NBC Wednesday.

A single from the album, "Red Ragtop," rose from No. 10 to No. 7 on this week's Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart after 11 weeks.


WOMACK, WARINER IN WHITE HOUSE CHRISTMAS CEREMONY

Country music will be well represented at opening night ceremonies for the 2002 Christmas Pageant of Peace on the White House Ellipse Dec. 5.

Lee Ann Womack and Steve Wariner will perform for the event and the legendary Roy Clark serves as Santa Claus.

After delivering a few remarks, President Bush will flip the switch to illuminate thousands of lights on a 40-foot Colorado blue spruce.


HANK JR., SON TO HONOR HANK SR.

Hank Williams Jr. and Hank Williams III are scheduled to perform Jan. 4 at the Grand Ole Opry.

In their first performance on stage together, the father and son will mark the 50th anniversary of Hank Williams Sr.'s death. Williams died on New Year's Day 1953.

CMT will telecast the show on Grand Ole Opry Live.
