NHL: Phoenix 5, Dallas 2

GLENDALE, Ariz., Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A goal and two assists from Radim Vrbata Thursday helped the Phoenix Coyotes to a 5-2 win over Dallas that ended the Stars' seven-game winning streak.

Phoenix halted a four-game skid and won for just the second time in eight games. Dallas' seven consecutive victories had equaled a franchise best, and the Stars had beaten Phoenix 2-1 Monday.

Shane Doan, Daniel Carcillo, Niko Kapanen, and Nicholas Boynton also scored for the Coyotes.

Doan opened the scoring at 11:29 of the first with a power-play goal and the Coyotes managed a 2-1 lead after the opening period.

That was the way it stayed until Kapanen scored with 1:18 remaining in the second. A breakaway goal by Vrbata at 5:22 of the third gave Phoenix a 4-1 advantage.
