NEW YORK, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- A poll of men and women using a dating app on Facebook or cellphones found about one-third of U.S. singles expect to have sex on Valentine's Day.

The Web site AreYouInterested.com, with more than 1.3 million fans on its Facebook Fan Page, conducted an online poll the week of Feb. 6 among 515 male and female respondents. The survey indicated 33 percent of respondents admitted checking the Facebook status of an ex to see if they had plans on Valentine's Day.

Almost 75 percent of singles said they felt that a first date on Valentine's Day was a good idea, indicating singles were not intimidated by the romantic pressure the holiday typically brings.

The survey indicated 58 percent said men should pay for women's Valentine's Day dinner. About 67 percent said if they were in a relationship that was rocky, they would end it before Valentine's Day, rather than wait it out, or as one respondent advised: "End it ... but after the gifts are given."

Forty-three percent of singles said they could envision using a cellphone app to find a date on Valentine's Day.

No further survey details were provided.
