May 16 (UPI) -- Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan has announced which characters will be the focus of the Netflix costume drama's third season. "Like Lady Whistledown I've been keeping quite a big secret for quite a long time... but I can finally tell you that @bridgertonnetflix Season Three is Colin and Penelope's Story," Coughlan wrote on Instagram Sunday night.

Coughlan plays Penelope and Luke Newton plays Colin on the show, which is set in 19th century Regency London.
The actress told the Netflix blog Tudum that Season 3 showrunner Jess Brownell personally called her to say that Penelope and Colin's love story would come next in the TV series, even though it isn't front and center until the fourth of Julia Quinn's novels. Each season of the show spotlights a different romance.
"I feel like if you see Penelope fawning over this boy for another season, you'll be like: 'Get it together! Come on, move on and get over it,'" Coughlan told Tudum.
"I think people are going to be really obsessed. I think book fans are going to be happy."
Season 2 of Bridgerton debuted in March. It followed Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) -- the eldest son and head of the Bridgerton family -- as he meets and interacts with the beguiling Sharma sisters, Edwina (Charithra Chandran) and Kate (Simone Ashley), newcomers to "the ton" or Britain's high-class society.
