AEW Dynamite: CM Punk and Darby Allin meet face to face

Sept. 2 (UPI) -- CM Punk and Darby Allin came face to face before their epic showdown at All Out on the 100th episode of AEW Dynamite.

Punk received a warm welcome from his hometown Chicago crowd on Wednesday as he came out to address the All Out pay-per-view event on Sunday. Punk will be having his fist professional wrestling match in seven years at the event against Allin.

The Best in the World said he was going to enjoy his return to professional wrestling as it could end at anytime. Punk even admitted to being nervous before he was suddenly ambushed by tag team 2.0 and Daniel Garcia.

Garcia and 2.0 stomped away at Punk until he received help from Allin and his mentor, professional wrestling legend Sting. Allin performed a Coffin Drop from the top rope and Sting unleashed the Scorpion Death Drop to take out 2.0.

Punk finished off Garcia by performing his finisher for the first time in years, the Go to Sleep. Punk and Allin then butted heads and got in each other's face before Sting grabbed the microphone and paid respect to Punk. Sting also said he would allow Allin to fight Punk alone at All Out.

Also on Dynamite, AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks and Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers of The Elite battled The Lucha Bros. and Jurassic Express in the main event.

The Young Bucks, consisting of Nick and Matt Jackson, are defending their titles against Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo of The Lucha Bros. inside of a steel cage at All Out.

The Young Bucks won the match for The Elite by delivering the Meltzer Driver to Fenix. This brought out AEW World Champion Kenny Omega of The Elite who told The Good Brothers to send Luchasaurus of Jurassic Express through a table with the Magic Killer.

Omega's rival Christian Cage came out to help, but he was also beaten down. Omega then had a steel cage descend upon the ring to allow The Elite to continue assaulting their enemies without interference as Dynamite went off the air.

Omega defends his title against Cage at All Out.

Chris Jericho was joined by announcer Jim Ross in the ring to discuss his match against MJF at All Out. If Jericho loses, he will never wrestle again. Le Champion said he needed to know that he could defeat MJF and did not want his in-ring career to end early.

"You're going to have to be the best you've ever been to get rid of me!" Jericho said about MJF.

Other moments from AEW Dynamite included Santana and Ortiz defeating FTR; Orange Cassidy defeating Jack Evans; Powerhouse Hobbs defeating Brian Cage with help from Team Taz; The Gunn Glub betraying Paul Wight and attacking him with a steel chair; and Tay Conti defeating Penelope Ford.

Conti was later attacked by Ford and her partner The Bunny before she received help from her friend Anna Jay, who is back from injury.
