Sisi Stringer, Daniela Nieves, Kieron Moore, Andre Dae Kim, J. August Richards, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Rhian Blundell, Jonetta Kaiser and Andrew Liner will star. The series is set at St. Vladimir's boarding school for vampire teens, training to defeat the evil Strigoi vampires.

A 2014 Vampire Academy movie was written by Daniel Waters and directed by Mark Waters. Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Gabriel Byrne and Sarah Hyland starred.

Stringer will play the lead, Rose Hathaway, whom Deutch played in the film. Rose is a Dhampir, half human, half vampire.

Nieves plays Lissa Dragomir, the vampire who brought Lissa back after a fatal automobile accident. Fry played Lissa in the film.

Moore plays Dimitri Belikov, Lissa's guardian. Dae Kim plays Christian Ozera, a vampire whose parents turned Stragoi.

Richards plays Victor Dashkov, a mentor of Rose and Lissa's. Byrne played him in the movie. Uwajeh plays Tatiana Vogel, the queen of the vampire royals.

McKenna-Bruce plays Mia Karp, a politically ambitious student at St. Vladimir's. There is no corresponding character in the book, but the Karp family features in the stories. Kaiser plays Sonya Karp, a teacher at St. Vladimir's who is featured in the books.

Blundell plays Meredith, a rival to Rose and Mia. Liner plays Mason Ashford, an aspiring guardian competing with Rose for the top position.

Peacock announced the series order in May. Ten hour-long episodes of Vampire Academy will be filmed in Spain.
