Peacock announces 'The Resort' from 'Mr. Robot,' 'Palm Springs' creators

June 2 (UPI) -- Peacock announced Wednesday it has ordered The Resort to series. Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail and Palm Springs screenwriter Andy Siara are executive producers.

Siara will also write the series with Allison Miller. Peacock describes The Resort as a true crime series about an unsolved crime in the Mayan Riviera that explores love, marriage and family vacations over multiple generations.

Esmail has an overall deal with Universal Content Productions. UCP also produced Esmail's series Homecoming for Amazon Prime. Esmail and UCP are also developing the series Gaslit about the Watergate scandal, Metropolis based on the Fritz Lang film, and a new Battlestar Galactica.

Siara is also working with UCP on the series Angelyne for Peacock. Emmy Rossum will star as the billboard icon, with Esmail also executive producing.

The Resort will be be eight episodes on the Peacock streaming service. Peacock launched July 15, 2020.

Peacock features original series, archives of classic television and movies. Series include reboots of NBC classics Saved By the Bell and Punky Brewster, and originals like Girls5eva and Rutherford Falls.
