The ensuing blaze kills a 10-year-old girl. The book was based on a real arson case.

Bosch investigates Gladys Rodriguez (Vanessa Born), a gang leader in the neighborhood described as "a female Stringer Bell," referring to Idris Elba's character on The Wire. Rodriguez sends hit men after Bosch's daughter, Maddie (Madison Lintz), making it personal.

Bosch began in 2014 making it Amazon's longest running original series. Harry Bosch will solve more crimes in an IMDb TV spinoff series starring Welliver, Lintz and Mimi Rogers.

Rogers plays attorney Honey Chandler and Lintz plays Maddie Bosch, Harry's daughter.

Connelly wrote 23 Bosch novels beginning in 1992. The character also appeared in five other Connelly books.
