May 25 (UPI) -- NBC said it will follow up its live concert staging of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar with Hair Live!

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are executive producing the show, which is to be broadcast next spring.

"Our next LIVE MUSICAL for @nbc with be #Hair Spring 2019. The new dawning of the Age of #Aquarius So honored to present one of my favorite shows!!" Meron tweeted.

No casting has been announced yet.

Hair -- with music by Galt MacDermot and book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado --originally debuted on Broadway in 1968.

"Since then, its integrated cast, message of protest and peace, and certified-platinum 'rock' score have become iconic," a news release noted.

The soundtrack includes "(The Age of) Aquarius," "Let the Sun Shine In," "Good Morning Starshine," "Hair," "Manchester, England" and "Frank Mills."

"I'm overjoyed that James Rado and Galt MacDermot are trusting us with their masterpiece Hair, one of the most original shows ever conceived for Broadway with one of the greatest scores," Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement Thursday. "These songs are part of the vocabulary of popular music, and this rebellious story of young people protesting and standing up for what they believe in is as relevant today as it was 50 years ago."

"This will be the perfect live event, and I'm looking forward to seeing Craig and Neil, along with our partners at MGM and the original creators bring the audience to their feet as they experience these beloved songs and recognizable young characters," he continued.

NBC has also staged live productions of Hairspray, The Wiz, Peter Pan and The Sound of Music.
