Sept. 28 (UPI) -- The O.C. alum Adam Brody once auditioned for Dawson's Creek.

The 37-year-old actor confirmed he tried out for The WB series before landing his starring role on The O.C. while reflecting on his early career in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

"I can't remember specifically, but some very early [auditions were] the Power Rangers, maybe, definitely Dawson's Creek," he shared. "I read with Scott Speedman and I didn't get it."

Brody denied he auditioned for Pacey Witter, a character played by Joshua Jackson, but didn't share further details. He also confirmed he tried out to be the host of Blue's Clues, which ultimately went to Steve Burns.

"It was later on," he said of Dawson's Creek. "That was [one of] my first [auditions] -- it felt like, 'Whoa, this is a real TV show.' And Blues Clues! To be the dude. I would have killed for that role when I was 19, 20."

Brody instead went on to portray Seth Cohen on The O.C., which aired from 2003 to 2007 on Fox. He said in a Build series interview in September 2016 that he's "lucky" to have came to fame before the prevalence of social media.

"That show came out in 2003, and in terms of how fast technology is moving -- well, maybe not, that's a long time ago now, but still -- no Twitter, no TMZ. I think it would be so different now to be on something like that," the star remarked.

"I don't envy people in that situation really, but then again, it's still a good problem to have," he acknowledged. "We all should be so lucky and, like I said, I get it. I can't expect anyone else to care."

Brody has appeared on House of Lies, The League and Burning Love since The O.C. He plays Nick Talman on the Crackle series StartUp, and will star in the movie The Wanting with Amanda Crew.
