Disney Channel renews 'Tangled: The Series' for a second season

Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Disney Channel says it has renewed Tangled: The Series for a second season before the animated adventure even premieres next month.

Tangled Before Ever After, a Disney Channel Original Movie, is to debut on the cable network on March 10. Tangled: The Series is scheduled to bow on March 24.

Like the original blockbuster that inspired them, the TV special and new series will feature the voice talents of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Eugene [formerly known as Flynn Rider.]

The renewal announcement was made Wednesday by Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide.

"Tangled is my all-time favorite Disney animated film! And with the blessing of the filmmakers, executive producer Chris Sonnenburg has crafted a terrific new series that embraces the rich characters, the brilliant storytelling and the memorable music of the original," Marsh said in a statement. "Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi have effortlessly reprised their roles as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, and the legendary songwriters Alan Menken and Glenn Slater have graced the series with a host of memorable songs. This promises to be an absolute treat for kids and families around the world."
