Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd stepped out Thursday for the first time since their son's birth.

The 37-year-old American dancer and 30-year-old Australian dance pro enjoyed a "parents' night out" at the VALENTINNICOLE show at New York Fashion Week.

"Hottest chick in the spot! That line next to the corner of the lip is my absolute favorite..." Chmerkovskiy captioned a photo of his fiancée at the event.

"Parents night out @wearevalentinnicole #nyfw17 @nicolevolynets @iamvalc," Murgatroyd added on her own account.

The Dancing with the Stars pros welcomed son Shai on Jan. 4 after announcing Murgatroyd's pregnancy in June. Chmerkovskiy couldn't help but gush about his son in a post the next week.

"It's been one week plus one day of my fatherhood and I'm the happiest person that's ever lived. I'm also feeling very protective and now understand what every parent in history have been going through for as long as humans have been giving birth," he wrote.

Murgatroyd shared a post-baby photo and a body-positive message with fans in mid-January. She posted the "real life" picture to combat the idea that "a woman should shrink right back to her pre-birth weight immediately."

"The female body is incredible and resilient, but healing and strengthening take time. Now it's time for patience and hard work. Lots of love to all the new mamas out there on the journey," she said.

Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd met as pros on Dancing with the Stars and got engaged in December 2015. Chmerkovskiy was partnered with Amber Rose in Season 23, which Murgatroyd sat out due to her pregnancy.
