Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Al Roker wishes former Today co-anchor Tamron Hall nothing but the best.

The 62-year-old news and weather anchor shared a message for Hall on Thursday's episode of Today following word the 46-year-old broadcast journalist is leaving NBC and MSNBC.

"As some of you may have heard by now, our good friend Tamron Hall has decided to leave NBC News," Roker confirmed.

"Personally, Tamron has been not just a co-host here on Today's Take for the past three years, but a good friend to not just me, but to all of us here, and we want to wish her nothing but the best, much continued success and cannot wait to see what her next chapter is," he added.

NBC News announced Hall's exit Wednesday, saying they had "hoped that she would decide to stay." Her departure follows rumors that NBC will remove Hall's hour of Today to make room for incoming anchor Megyn Kelly.

"The last 10 years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I'm grateful," the broadcast journalist said. "I'm also very excited for the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you."

The National Association of Black Journalists called out NBC in a statement Thursday over the reported Today switch-up. The organization said it was "saddened" to learn of Hall's exit.

"NBC has been a leader for diversity in broadcasting, but recent reports that Hall and Roker will be replaced by former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly are being seen by industry professionals as whitewashing," the statement reads.
