LOS ANGELES, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- USA Network says it has renewed Shooter, its action series starring Ryan Phillippe and Omar Epps, for a second season.
The show is a small-screen adaptation of Stephen Hunter's novel Point of Impact, and the 2007 Paramount film Shooter starring Mark Wahlberg.
"John Hlavin and the team behind Shooter have delivered a compelling action-thriller that consistently engages a strong and loyal audience," Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, said in a statement Monday. "We look forward to partnering once again with Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions as we follow Bob Lee into his next chapter."
Phillippe plays Bob Lee Swagger, a character described as "a highly-decorated veteran who is coaxed back into action to prevent a plot to kill the president." Epps plays Swagger's former commanding officer, Isaac Johnson.
Season 1 is now airing on the cable network on Tuesday nights.
