Dave Chappelle to host 'Saturday Night Live' on Nov. 12

NEW YORK, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Dave Chappelle will host Saturday Night Live for the first time next week.

NBC announced in a press release Friday that the 43-year-old actor and comedian will host the show's Nov. 12 episode featuring musical guest A Tribe Called Quest.

"Dave Chappelle and @ATCQ are here next week! #SNL," the series confirmed on its official Twitter page.

The episode will air a day after the release of A Tribe Called Quest's first album in 18 years. The trio, who last debuted The Love Movement in 1998, will release We Got It From Here, Thank You For Your Service on Nov. 11.

Chappelle had nothing but praise for Saturday Night Live at the show's 40th anniversary special in 2015. The actor told The Wrap the late-night sketch comedy series has been "a hotbed of many, many comedy moments."

"It has been a place for a lot of great entertainers to hone their skills and find a way to bridge the gap between being a nightclub act and entertaining the masses," he said.

Chappelle is known for Chappelle's Show, which ran from 2003 to 2006 on Comedy Central, and has appeared in numerous standup comedy specials. The actor last appeared in the 2015 movie Chi-Raq starring Teyonah Parris.
