LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Grey's Anatomy alum Scott Elrod is headed for Chicago Fire.
TV Line reported the 41-year-old actor will play Travis Brenner, a lifestyle celebrity, in a multi-episode arc in Season 5.
Elrod's character is described as "a drop-dead gorgeous" star with a million Instagram followers. Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) is tempted to join Brenner's "fast-paced inner circle" after he crosses paths with the celeb on a fire call.
"This guy always has a party going on, always has a new adventure to rope in a new friend," executive producer Derek Haas told Entertainment Weekly. "He's going to cause some mischief over the first three episodes."
"[Brenner] feels like Severide is a real guy, not the usual hanger-on, entourage type of guy that he's used to hanging out with, so he's attracted to Severide in that way," he added.
Elrod shared a photo from the Chicago Fire set this week on Instagram, writing, "Hangin with the boys at #chicagofire. #makingtvmagic #nbc." Season 5 will premiere Oct. 11 on NBC.
Elrod is known for playing Dr. Will Thorpe, a love interest to Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), on Grey's Anatomy and Joe Clark on The Young and the Restless. He has also appeared on NCIS: Los Angeles and How to Get Away with Murder.
