Church is described as "an imposing gangster looking to unite the various criminal enterprises in Star City under his own singular command."

Coleman is known for his previous television roles as Tyreese on AMC's The Walking Dead and as Dennis "Cutty" Wise on HBO's The Wire.

The actor will be joined by fellow series newcomer Josh Segarra who has been cast to play The Vigilante.

Arrow returns to The CW starting Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.

Series regular Willa Holland made headlines recently when she expressed her disappointment over how Warner Bros. and DC Comics keep their television and film universes separate. "It's a little upsetting because you know it is possible and it can be done and how good it would be if it was done," the actress said of combining the film and television properties during the MCM Comic Con in London.
