'Shameless' starring Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy is renewed for Season 7 on Showtime

PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- The Chicago-set comedy series Shameless has been renewed for Season 7, Gary Levine, president of programming for Showtime Networks, announced Tuesday.

Production on the 12 fresh installments is to begin later this year. Season 6 kicked off this past Sunday.

"Shameless has clearly resonated with audiences as evidenced by their steady growth on Sunday nights over the past six years," Levine said in a statement.

"We are extremely pleased with the creative work being done by John Wells, Nancy Pimental and the entire cast, producers and writers -- and we so appreciate Shameless' clear and distinctive voice."

The series about the fictional, dysfunctional Gallagher family stars William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney and Cameron Monaghan.
