LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Kirsten Dunst kicked back and relaxed to gain weight for Fargo.

The 33-year-old actress revealed how she put on pounds for the FX series in an interview Monday on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Dunst plays ambitious hairdresser Peggy Blomquist on season 2, which premiered to positive critical reviews the same day.

"It's good," she said of the show. "It's nice to promote something and not have to lie about it. It's amazing, I love it."

"I was in Calgary and it was cold, so I ordered in a lot of pizza, lot of Thai, grilled cheese," she shared. "I just had different cheeses and breads together. And now I'm like, 'Yeah, I gained weight for this role.' But really, I just sat in my bed, watched Friday Night Lights and like, ate."

Fargo season 2 focuses on the Sioux Falls incident mentioned in season 1. The season premiere saw Peggy cover up her own crime, and Dunst previously told E! News, "You slowly realize there's a sociopathic streak in her to be able to do something like that."

The season features an entirely new cast from the first, with Jesse Plemons as Peggy's husband Ed, Patrick Wilson as state trooper Lou Solverson, Ted Danson as sheriff Hank Larsson and Jean Smart as Floyd Gerhardt. Season 2 airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET.
