Sasha Farber to train with Nastia Liukin as Derek Hough recovers

LOS ANGELES, April 23 (UPI) -- Sasha Farber will train with Nastia Liukin as Derek Hough recovers from his injuries.

The Dancing with the Stars season 17 pro will help the 25-year-old Olympic gymnast prepare for the ABC reality competition's 10th anniversary special. Liukin is currently partnered with Hough on season 20, but the dancer hurt his foot and ankle Monday evening.

"[Hough] has been diagnosed with a broken toe on his right foot, sprains to his left ankle on both the inside and outside aspects, and a bone bruise on the same ankle," Hough's rep revealed in a statement Wednesday.

"Derek will remain in Los Angeles this week to rehab his injuries and his understudy will be filling in for me for New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall in New York," the rep added. "It remains unclear at this time if Derek will be able to perform on the Monday April 27 episode."

Farber was partnered with Jersey Show reality star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi in season 17, and eliminated in week five. Hough and Liukin have excelled in competition, and are tied with Allison Holker and singer Riker Lynch for the highest average score.
