BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Arrow, Jane the Virgin and more have been renewed by The CW.

The DC Comics series and Gina Rodriguez-led dramedy are among the eight scripted series picked up for new seasons. The Flash, Supernatural, Reign, The 100, The Originals and The Vampire Diaries will also return in 2015-2016.

"Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience," network president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement.

Arrow debuted in October 2012, and will return from midseason break January 21. The show is inspired by DC Comics character Green Arrow, and stars Stephen Amell as playboy-turned-vigilante Oliver Queen. The series inspired spinoff The Flash, which is in its first season.

Jane the Virgin is a loose adaptation of Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen, and premiered in October 2014. Rodriguez stars as young woman who becomes pregnant by mistake, and took home her first Golden Globe award Sunday for her role on the dramedy.

"What a blessing because all I want to give away is that same idea of power and strength and knowing that fear is only between your two ears and you can and you will," she told Access Hollywood backstage. "Something my father gave me that I wish every household was lucky enough to have."
