Watch Lea Michele sing 'Let It Go' on 'Glee'

Idina Menzel, who portrays birth mother to Michele's character on "Glee," originally sang the song in "Frozen."

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Lea Michele recently covered "Let It Go" for Glee.

The 28-year-old actress will perform the Frozen anthem as Rachel Berry on season six of the Fox musical drama. The series teased audio of the song in December, and released a full clip ahead of the premiere Thursday.

Idina Menzel originally sang "Let It Go" as Queen Elsa in Disney movie Frozen. The song sold over 3.5 million copies, and won Best Original Song at the 86th Academy Awards. The 43-year-old singer portrays Rachel's birth mother, Shelby, on Glee.

Michele has starred as Rachel since the show's debut in 2009. The program will kick off a 13-episode final season with a two-hour premiere Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. ET, and comes to a close with a two-hour finale March 20 at 8 p.m. ET.

Michele released her first studio album, Louder, in February 2014. The record debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, and includes the singles "Cannonball" and "On My Way." The actress has an upcoming role in animated feature Bollywood Superstar Monkey.
