LOS ANGELES, May 27 (UPI) -- House of Cards actress Sakina Jaffrey has joined the cast of Sleepy Hollow for the show's upcoming second season.
Jaffrey, 52, is set to play recurring guest Leena Reyes, a sheriff, in Fox's supernatural television series. Her character is described as being "smart, forceful, highly trained and commanding" with a warm maternal side.
The actress' character is meant to replace Orlando Jones's Irving, the sheriff who ended up behind bars in January's season finale.
"There's a new sheriff in town. Obviously, Irving has been discredited and now he's been taken upstate, so the Sleepy Hollow Police Department still has to be run by somebody and that person may not be as open as Irving was by the end of the season with Abbie and Crane," executive producer Roberto Orci recently told E! News. "So somebody may be making their life very difficult."
Sleepy Hollow returns to the small screen in the fall.
