LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Veteran producer of "NYPD Blue" and "Cop Rock" Steven Bochco said he is returning to police drama with the new TNT series "Murder in the First."
The new series stars Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson as San Francisco homicide detectives who investigate what appears to be a drug-related murder, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

The series is set to focus on one main murder investigation each season like Bochco's previous series "Murder One."
"This is a comfortable arena for me," he said of the single-case format. "It's the kind of storytelling I like to do."
He described "Murder in the First" as a cop drama, legal drama and courtroom drama all in one.
