Ship where 'The Love Boat' was filmed being dismantled in Turkey

ALIAGA, Turkey, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- The real-life vessel used as the set for classic TV series "The Love Boat" has arrived in Turkey and is scheduled to be dismantled.

The cruise ship, which was originally dubbed the Sea Venture when it was built in Germany in the 1960s and later renamed the Pacific Princess, was purchased recently by a Turkish company and has arrived in Aliaga to be dismantled, Today's Zaman reported Friday.

The ship served as the set for TV series "The Love Boat" from 1977 to 1986 and returned to use as a cruise ship following the end of the show. Spanish company Pullmantur eventually purchased the ship and had it repaired in Italy in 2009, but the company defaulted on the bill and the ship was seized by an Italian court.

The Turkish company purchased the ship at an auction last year.
