LOS ANGELES, July 2 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Alicia Silverstone announced on her website she has started a breast milk sharing service for vegan mothers.

Silverstone, 36, said in her June 25 blog posting she created the Kind Mama Milk program for mothers who cannot produce enough milk on their own or who find they have a surplus. The announcement became a popular Internet trending topic Tuesday.

"Because we are a community of beautiful souls who recognize the importance of food as health, I say we help support those mamas and babies who need a hand during one of the most important times in their lives," the "Clueless" and "Excess Baggage" actress said on her website. "It's why I'm starting the Kind Mama Milk Share, a way for moms to connect with other moms in their area. If you have milk to share -- post it! If you are in need of milk -- post it! Think of all the babies we can help raise together!"
