Showtime releases trailer for Season 8 of 'Dexter'

NEW YORK, May 20 (UPI) -- A trailer for the eighth and final season of the U.S. drama series "Dexter" has been viewed more than 1.3 million times since it was posted on YouTube Friday.

The show is to kick off its last season June 30 on Showtime. It stars Michael C. Hall in his Golden Globe Award-winning role as Dexter Morgan, a complicated blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department.

"Season 8 begins six months after LaGuerta's murder -- and Dexter is still managing life as a dad, brother, and serial killer. As Deb struggles to deal with the consequences of her actions, a mysterious woman comes to work with Miami Metro, offering first-hand information on Dexter's past," a synopsis said.

The series also stars Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Aimee Garcia, David Zayas, Geoff Pierson and James Remar.
