LOS ANGELES, April 16 (UPI) -- Jane Lynch says she doesn't know if she will be back on "Glee" next season since her character was fired from the Ohio school where she coaches cheerleaders.

Lynch's Sue Sylvester was fired from McKinley High after she lied and said a gun that accidentally went off in the school was hers. She was trying to protect a student with Down syndrome who brought the firearm with her to school because she didn't feel safe.

Asked about her future on the Fox musical dramedy series, Lynch told Hollyscoop: "[On the show] I have been fired. I haven't been written back in yet. I am in the show, but [my character] is teaching aerobics at 23 Hour Fitness. So, that is where Sue Sylvester is right now. So, we'll see what happens."

Pressed to say if she is coming back next season, the actress replied: "I think I will. Well, we will see. I don't know that."

Lynch will soon make her Broadway debut as Miss Hannigan in the stage musical "Annie."
