NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- Regis Philbin confirmed on "The View" in New York Monday he will serve as anchor of a new Fox sports program.

Asked if he is planning a return to television, Philbin, 81, replied, "Yeah, I think I will be doing another show."

"It hasn't been announced yet, and everybody gets mad," Philbin said when pressed for details. "It hasn't been announced yet Oh, please, really? Fox. Fox is starting a sports channel. Everybody's starting a sports channel where it's nothing but 24 hours of sports. ESPN has been dynamite. So, everybody -- NBC, CBS -- everybody has got to have their own sports channel. So, Regis is going to have his own show on that."

Philbin left the morning chat program "Live! with Regis & Kelly" in November 2011, reportedly after a salary dispute.
