'Wreck-It Ralph' wins big at Annie Awards

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Disney's "Wreck-It Ralph" won the top award at the 40th Annual Annie Awards for accomplishments in animation.

The ceremony, held at the University of California, Los Angeles, Saturday evening, featured an expanded list of categories, including the addition of the Best Student Film category, the Annie Awards said in a statement.

"Wreck-It Ralph" took home the Best Animated Feature award, while Disney's "Paperman" won the Best Animated Short Subject category.

The Best General Audience Animated Television Production went to "Robot Chicken 'DC Comics Special.'"

The new Best Student Film award was won by Timothy Reckart for his animation "Head Over Heels."

"What a great evening filled with a lot of fun and surprises," said International Animated Film Association-Hollywood President Frank Gladstone. "A variety of individuals and studios participated and joined in celebrating the best in animation across project, studio and geographic boundaries."
