Ailing Nick Cannon quits radio show

NEW YORK, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Actor, musician and TV personality Nick Cannon says he is leaving his WXRK radio show in New York because health issues are forcing him to slow down.

Cannon, 31, started on the program in 2010. He also is the host of TV's "America's Got Talent" and father of twin infants with his wife, singer Mariah Carey. He said he plans to continue as host of the TV talent show as well as the syndicated weekly radio program "Cannon's Countdown" but must give up his daily morning radio show.

The New York Daily News said he has been hospitalized in recent weeks for blood clots, following a previous hospitalization in January for kidney failure.

"Under doctor's orders, I have been asked to cut back on some of my professional commitments to allow my body to get the rest it needs to keep up with the demands of my multitasking schedule," Cannon said in a statement. "Even Superman has to sleep."

"We have nothing but respect and understanding for Nick's decision to step down from his day-to-day position," the radio station said in a statement. "Everyone at the station and all of the CBS Radio family wish him well."
