Actor Francesco Quinn dead at 48

MALIBU, Calif., Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Actor Francesco Quinn, son of film legend Anthony Quinn, died of an apparent heart attack in Malibu, Calif., this weekend, a neighbor said in a blog posting.

The report on Malibu Patch said paramedics were unable to revive the 48-year-old Quinn, who went down in the street late Friday while running with his son, Max.

Blogger Tim Lawrence wrote that he and Quinn's wife, Valentina, tried to save Quinn in the approximately 5 minutes it took for a rescue crew to arrive.

"There was a moment where we thought that we were making progress, that we started to sense that this could work," Lawrence said. "But at a certain point it turned, and there was no response."

Quinn's career began in earnest in the 1980s with a role as a drug-dealing soldier in "Platoon." He made numerous television appearances on "NCIS," "24" and "The Young and the Restless," People magazine said.
