NEW YORK, July 14 (UPI) -- Bono and the Edge, composers of the Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," are to appear on "Late Show with David Letterman," CBS said.

The Irish rockers are to visit the "Late Show" set in New York Monday.

This will be their first visit back to the talk show since they appeared with their band, U2, for a full week on the broadcast from March 2-6, 2009.

Cast members of "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" are scheduled to perform a number from the musical on Monday night's show.

The stage musical began previews last fall but its opening date was delayed numerous times while the creative team behind it worked out technical snafus and story problems. It officially opened last month to mixed reviews, but ticket sales have been brisk.
