LONDON, April 26 (UPI) -- The science-fiction series "Misfits" led the field with four nods when nominations for the British Academy Television Awards were announced Tuesday. In the running for the Drama Series prize are "Being Human," "Downton Abbey," "Misfits" and "Sherlock."

The nominees for Leading Actor are Jim Broadbent from "Any Human Heart," Benedict Cumberbatch from "Sherlock," Daniel Rigby from "Eric and Ernie" and Matt Smith from "Doctor Who."
Competing for the Leading Actress in a drama BAFTA are Anna Maxwell Martin from "South Riding," Vicky McClure from "This Is England '86," Natalie Press from "Five Daughters" and Juliet Stevenson from "Accused."
The Supporting Actor contenders are Brendan Coyle from "Downton Abbey," Martin Freeman from "Sherlock," Johnny Harris from "This Is England '86" and Robert Sheehan from "Misfits."
Vying for the Supporting Actress prize are Gillian Anderson from "Any Human Heart," Lynda Baron and Jessie Wallace both from "The Road to Coronation Street" and Lauren Socha from "Misfits."
Shortlisted for the New Media honor are "LabUK/Brain Test Britain," "Misfits," "Malcolm Tucker: The Missing Phone" and "Wallace and Gromit's World of Invention."
Up for the Situational Comedy Series award are "Mrs. Brown's Boys," "Peep Show," "Rev" and "The Trip."
The nominees for the Female Performance in a Comedy Role statuette are Jo Brand from "Getting On," Dawn French from "Roger and Val Have Just Got In," Miranda Hart from "Miranda" and Katherine Parkinson from "The IT Crowd."
Vying for the Male Performance in a Comedy Role trophy are James Buckley from "The Inbetweeners," Steve Coogan from "The Trip," Tom Hollander from "Rev" and David Mitchell from "Peep Show."
The nominees in the international category are the U.S. productions "Boardwalk Empire," "Glee" and "Mad Men," as well as the Danish series "The Killing."
The awards are to be handed out at a ceremony be held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel May 22. Comedian Graham Norton is to serve as host.
