Rosenberg was crossing the street to his home when he stopped in the median, where one car stopped for him, but he was hit by Bauer's vehicle as he stepped farther into traffic, police said.

Rosenberg was taken by helicopter to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he was in critical condition, the report said.

Investigators said there was no indication alcohol or extensive speed were involved.

Bauer is known for his role in the 1983 film "Scarface," and has appeared on many television dramas, including "Cold Case," "Burn Notice," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
