'Growing Pains' actor Koenig missing

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Actor and director Andrew Koenig, who was last seen Feb. 14 in Vancouver, has been reported missing, his family announced.

Best known for playing Boner, the close friend of Kirk Cameron's character Mike on the sit-com "Growing Pains," Koenig is the 41-year-old son of former "Star Trek" star Walter Koenig.

Andrew Koenig has been performing at The Improv in Los Angeles and working as a camera operator for the Web series "Never Not Funny" in recent years. His other TV credits include "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "G.I. Joe," "My Two Dads," "21 Jump Street," "My Sister Sam" and "Adam-12." He has edited more than a dozen films, and directed, produced and written many others.

A message posted on Walter Koenig's Web site said

Andrew had been suffering from depression at the time of his disappearance. The family said the last time they heard from Andrew by phone was Feb. 9. His cell phone is turned off and the last time his phone received a text was Feb. 16 in Vancouver.

"Andrew Koenig never boarded his flight back to the United States on Feb. 16 and he hasn't been heard from since," the message on his dad's Web site said. "Andrew was last seen at a bakery in the Stanley Park area of Vancouver. If you've seen Andrew since Feb. 14, please contact Detective Raymond Payette of the Vancouver Police Department at 604-717-2534. While he greatly appreciates your thoughts, prayers, and encouragement ... please do not contact Walter at this time unless it is an emergency ... Thank you for your understanding."
