BOULDER, Colo., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Ex-child actor Brian Bonsall, best known for his role on "Family Ties," is being held in Colorado for allegedly beating a friend with a stool, authorities said.
Bonsall, 28, was officially charged with second-degree assault Friday in connection with a Dec. 5 brawl that left an unidentified friend of the former actor with a concussion, the Boulder, Colo., Daily Camera reported.
Bonsall was arrested by police in Boulder the day of the fight and accused of striking his friend in the head multiple times with a broken stool.
Police initially charged Bonsall, who played young Andy Keaton in "Family Ties," with misdemeanor third-degree assault. That charge was upgraded to the felony second-degree count at Friday's hearing.
The Daily Camera said Bonsall, whose preliminary court date is scheduled for Dec. 28, had been wanted for failing to show up for a 2008 court hearing related to a 2007 sentence for assaulting his girlfriend.
