'Californication' renewed for 4th season

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- David Duchovny's U.S. television comedy series, "Californication," has been picked up for a fourth season, Showtime said.

The announcement was made Monday by Showtime Networks President of Entertainment Robert Greenblatt.

The series is currently in its third season and an additional 12 new episodes of the show are to premiere as Season 4 in 2010.

"The series follows the exploits of writer Hank Moody as he works to balance his career, ex-girlfriend, daughter and hedonistic vices," the network said in a news release. "This year, the economy and lack of book sales force Hank into teaching at a Los Angeles university. Will he be able to keep it together while guiding the next generation of scribes?"
