Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Music superstar Ariana Grande is back with a new single.

The 25-year-old singer released a single and a lyric video for her song "Imagine" on Friday.

Grande promoted the single in a tweet at midnight. The lyric video features art from Thomas Collet, with cinematography by Adam DJ Laity and Eric Esterle.

"'imagine' out now," Grande wrote, adding a black heart emoji.

Grande reminisces about a relationship with an ex in the lyrics to "Imagine." She told fans Tuesday the song explores "denial" after a breakup.

"a lot of this album mourns failed yet important, beautiful relationships in my life (as well as celebrates growth/exploring new independence," the star said.

Grande added Thursday on Twitter the single is about "a simple, beautiful love that is now (and forever) unattainable." Fans believe the song was inspired by Grande's ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who died in September.

"guys mac miller had a tattoo that said 'imagine' pls get my tissues," one person wrote.

"I just feel this is a Mac Miller tribute and I feel so sad right now," another added.

Grande references Miller by his given name, Malcolm, in her single "Thank U, Next." "Thank U, Next" and "Imagine" are expected to appear on her forthcoming fifth studio album.
