Ed Sheeran announces new music due out Friday

LONDON, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has announced via Twitter he will release new music later this week.

"Hello 2017," Sheeran tweeted, along with a brief video clip showing him holding up a piece of paper that reads, "New music coming Friday."

No other information was immediately available.

Sheeran, 25, is known for his hit songs "The A Team," "Thinking Out Loud" and "Sing."
