Usher receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

The singer was joined by his family and fellow stars Stevie Wonder, Miguel and Kelly Rowland.

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Usher was honored with a star Wednesday on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The 37-year-old singer, born Usher Terry Raymond IV, received the plaque in recognition of his contributions to the recording industry. Usher released his self-titled debut album in 1994 and has followed with six more albums since.

"Usher is one of the most successful artists of our modern music world. We are proud to welcome him to the Hollywood Walk of Fame," Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said a statement.

Usher's wife, Grace Miguel, and two sons, 8-year-old Usher Raymond V and 7-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond, were on hand to support the singer at the ceremony. The star shares his children with ex-wife Tameka Foster.

"Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to this point. #Humbled #WalkOfFame," he tweeted that evening. Fellow singers Stevie Wonder, Miguel and Kelly Rowland were also present at the event.

Usher last released the album Looking 4 Myself in 2012, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. He will release his eighth studio record, Hard II Love, on Sept. 16, which includes the singles "No Limit" and "Crash."
