BRISBANE, Australia, March 17 (UPI) -- Madonna has come under fire on social media recently after she arrived two hours late for a concert in Belfast, Australia.

According to BBC News, hundreds of concert goers had already walked out and were demanding refunds before the singer took the stage around 11:22 p.m. The show was originally scheduled to start at 9 p.m. before it was pushed back to 10:30 p.m. at the earliest.

Public transportation located 12 miles outside the venue ended shortly after midnight leaving many fans stranded having to rely on taxis for transportation after the performance wrapped up around 2 a.m.

"By 2am no trains no buses very few taxis or uber. Without your own car you would be stranded!," one fan noted on Twitter.

Once onstage, Madonna joked that she was "hardly ever late." "It's you people that get here early that's the problem," she joked. "Stay home, do your hair and makeup, have a tequila. Roll yourself a fat one ... no, I don't believe in that [expletive]. Just come late and I won't have to come early. We've got three more shows and we want to fix the problem."

"I personally view tardiness as more evil than all the 7 deadly sins combined," said another fan on Twitter. "It's appalling."

Madonna later took to Instagram to explain the delay, writing "Wanted to be perfect for you!!! And we had so much FUN #rebelhearttour," alongside a photo of herself from the concert.

Madonna is currently in a custody battle with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie over son Rocco.
