American Idol's Josh Gracin sparks death rumors with cryptic Facebook post

“Please remember me as someone who gave his all in his music … Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye,” the singer wrote.

MEMPHIS, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- American Idol alum Josh Gracin worried fans Thursday after sharing a cryptic post on Facebook that appeared to be a suicide note. He was confirmed to be alive later in the day.

"Please remember me as someone who gave his all in his music ... Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye," the country singer wrote after 5 p.m. in a message that the began with him seemingly talking about his wife.

"I've loved her for 17 years ... I made mistakes ... I admitted them, told her the truth and she turned her back on me when I needed her help the most."

Gracin's post -- which has since been deleted -- began receiving comments from fans almost immediately after it was shared. Fans on Twitter also wrote inquiring messages about the singer's apparent suicide note.

TMZ reports police rushed to the singer's home after news of his apparent death went viral where they found his wife, Ann Marie. Officials reportedly called the singer on the phone and put him on with his wife, who instructed him to come home.

Gracin was intercepted by police on his way home at around 5:33 p.m. and confirmed to be "safe." He later drove himself to the hospital, escorted by police, where he was held on a 5150 psychiatric hold.

The singer's manager addressed the issue on Facebook later in the evening, explaining that Gracin was alive, thanking fans for their concern and promising to keep them updated.

Gracin, a former member of the United States Marine Corps, ended up in fourth place competing on the second season of Fox's American Idol. Since his run in the singing competition Gracin has launched three studio albums, Josh Gracin in 2004, We Weren't Crazy in 2008 and Redemption in 2011.
