NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Rapper Lil Wayne apologized for not getting back to New Orleans to hand out Thanksgiving turkeys to his hometown fans earlier.
Lil Wayne made up for his absences Friday when he joined fellow artists from New Orleans' Cash Money Records for a giveaway in the city where the label was launched.
"It's actually been my first time back here for the past eight or nine years, and they've been doing this for 15 years," Lil Wayne said. "I haven't been back here to do this for so long just being super busy, just always on tour."
Wayne said he used to pitch in at the Cash Money event when he was struggling to get started because it seemed like the thing to do. "Now it's a totally different feeling, because I can actually give you that and say, 'Here, happy Thanksgiving,'" he said. "That's a different feeling in general, and it's a beautiful feeling overall."
