The BBC confirmed Sunday the Thin Lizzy musician's death. The cause, however, was not disclosed.

Eric Bell, another of the band's former guitarists, told the BBC he is still "in shock" after hearing about Moore's death in Costa del Sol.

"I still can't believe it," Bell said. "He was so robust. He wasn't a rock casualty, he was a healthy guy. He was a superb player and a dedicated musician."

"Playing with Gary during the 'Black Rose' era was a great experience. He was a great player and a great guy," said Thin Lizzy band member Scott Gorham. "I will miss him."

Moore is also known for his work with the band Skid Row, as well as for his solo career.
