Coachella Fest draws record crowds

The three-day celebration drew 75,000 people per day, an increase of about 15,000 people per day over last year, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.

Concert-goers complained about massive traffic jams en route to the venue as well as the long wait to get through the gates on foot once they were parked, the Times said.

However, police reported fewer arrests than last year -- which totaled only 69 by the weekend's end, the Times said. All 12 arrests reported Friday were related to drugs or alcohol, police said.

Rap mogul Jay-Z produced a special surprise during his headlining gig Friday night -- his superstar wife, Beyonce.

Henry Conklin, 19, of New York, told the Times: "Seeing larger-than-life superstars like that is kind of surreal."
