BEIJING, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- British guitarist Jimmy Page of the rock group Led Zeppelin will join a number of U.S. performers at the Show of Peace Concert in China, organizers say.
Concert organizers said on the event's Web site that Page, 65, will take part in the April 17 event in Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing, along with singers Prince, Justin Timberlake and Mariah Carey, Billboard.com reported Friday.
Also offering performances at the event will be singer Beyonce, country music star Kenny Chesney, Coldplay and Green Day.
Organizers said in a statement the event is part of "a 'peace is green' awareness campaign designed to not only promote peace with each other but to promote peace with our planet."
Rick Garson helped organize the event and the music producer is also helping establish A Show of Peace Foundation that will distribute funds from the 2010 concert to worthy initiatives and organizations.
Billboard.com said additional performers for the Beijing show will be announced Jan. 13.
