'Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore' to open in April 2022

Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Warner Bros. has shared a title and release date for the third Fantastic Beasts film.

The new movie will be titled Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and open in theaters April 15, 2022.

The Secrets of Dumbledore was originally to open July 15, 2022, and was moved up to Easter weekend. The film will now open against The Bad Guys, an animated film featuring Awkwafina, and The Lost City of D, a comedy-adventure starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum.

The Fantastic Beasts movies are based on the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. The first film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, opened in 2016, while the second, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, was released in 2018.

David Yates, who directed the first two films and the final four movies in the Harry Potter film series, will return to direct The Secrets of Dumbledore.

Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander, with Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone and Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore. Mads Mikkelsen will replace Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald.
